Stevenage's Remembrance Sunday service is at the Old Town war memorial on 8 November 2026. Last year the parade left at 10.15am and four roads shut from 8.30am.

Stevenage’s Remembrance Sunday service is on Sunday 8 November 2026 at the war memorial on the Old Town Bowling Green, and the Armistice Day service is on Wednesday 11 November at the Joyride in the town centre. Both dates are in Stevenage Borough Council’s published diary for the year. The times, the parade and the road closures for 2026 have not been announced yet; last year’s went up in the last week of October, and this page sets out what they were.

The quick answer

Remembrance Sunday: Sunday 8 November 2026, Old Town Bowling Green. Armistice Day: Wednesday 11 November 2026, Town Square and Joyride. In 2025 the parade left the Primett Road car park at 10.15am, the service began at 10.30am, and the High Street, Hitchin Road, Walkern Road and Drapers Way were closed from 8.30am to 12.30pm. Expect the 2026 arrangements from the council in late October.

The 2026 dates

Both services sit in the council’s “2026 dates for your diary” table: “Remembrance Sunday Service, 08/11/2026, Old Town Bowling Green” and “Armistice Day Service, 11/11/2026, Town Square & Joyride” (Stevenage Borough Council, Chronicle Spring 2026, page 6). The council repeated both in its May round-up of the year’s events (Stevenage Borough Council, 21 May 2026).

The Royal British Legion’s national silence is at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, which in 2026 is 11am on the Wednesday (Royal British Legion, Remembrance).

How it ran in 2025

The council published its arrangements for 2025 as an events listing, which has since been removed from its site; an archived copy from 31 October 2025 is on the Wayback Machine. This is what it said.

Remembrance Sunday, 9 November 2025. The Mayor, councillors, Royal British Legion representatives and other dignitaries gathered at the Bowling Green in the High Street. Parade members moved off from the Primett Road car park, behind the old Waitrose building, at 10.15am to the war memorial. The service started at 10.30am, with wreaths laid immediately afterwards. Refreshments were served outside Springfield House Community Centre after the service, weather permitting.

Road closures, 8.30am to 12.30pm:

  • High Street southbound, between the Lytton Way and North Road junction and the north side of the High Street and Albert Street junction
  • Hitchin Road, from the Martins Way roundabout to Lytton Way
  • Walkern Road, from Church Lane to the High Street
  • Drapers Way

Armistice Day, 11 November 2025. A service at the Joyride in the town centre from 10.45am to 11.15am, attended by the Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, the Mayor and the Leader of the Council, and led by the Reverend Karen Mitchell of St Andrew and St George’s Church.

The council’s events team is at events@stevenage.gov.uk.

Getting there on the day

The Old Town High Street is shut to southbound traffic for the morning, and the car parks off it fill early. The Primett Road car park is the parade’s assembly point, so do not expect to park there. The Old Town’s parking arrangements, including the free and pay-and-display bays, are on our parking in Stevenage page, and any roadworks on the routes in on our roadworks and travel page.

The war memorial is the obelisk on the Bowling Green in the High Street. The same green is where the Old Town Christmas lights are switched on three weeks later, on 28 November, which we cover on our Christmas lights page.

Still to be confirmed, and when

  • The 2026 parade time, service time and road closures. The 2025 listing was live by 31 October, so expect the 2026 one in the last week of October.
  • The Armistice Day 2026 service details, which the council published alongside the Sunday arrangements last year.

This page will be updated when the council publishes.
